‘Nuclear button’ for textiles: Proposed overhaul could threaten Berry Amendment

A proposed legislative change to the Berry Amendment, a cornerstone of U.S. defense procurement law for more than 75 years, could significantly narrow its domestic sourcing requirements – a shift that industry leaders warn may weaken America’s textile industrial base.

During the AATCC / SEAMS Fabricating the Future joint Annual Conference last week in Savannah, Ga., keynoter Kim Glas, president & CEO of the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), delivered a stark warning about Berry being under serious threat.
