Harvard researchers have developed programmable knitted textiles that can change between stable shapes, sense movement and function as soft electrical switches. The fabrics can be produced using industrial weft-knitting machines already common in garment manufacturing, potentially providing a more scalable path for producing advanced smart textiles and wearable technologies.
