U.S. modifies Canada tariffs; carpets added, packaging removed

Oct 31, 2026

The United States has revised tariffs on certain Canadian imports, adding carpets and other products while removing selected packaging materials, plywood, paper products and equipment. Effective Oct. 30, the changes modify Section 338 trade measures and apply to covered goods regardless of their USMCA origin status. Some affected imports face duties of 50%, adding another layer of complexity to U.S.-Canada trade.
